FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
1900/27-01-00 is a Vibration Monitor manufactured and designed by Bently Nevada as part of the 2700 Series used for machinery vibration monitoring systems. The 1900/27 is a single-channel, stand-alone, locally mounted vibration monitor. It can be used as a stand-alone machinery protection device, suitable for general-purpose or some essential machinery, and provides a built-in 4-20 mA interface for trending the monitored parameter in plant control and automation systems. 1900/27 accepts a single transducer input from compatible Trendmasters 2000 accelerometers, conditions the signal into peak velocity units, and provides local display and status indication as well as alarm relay contact outputs for connection to an external annunciator. By using an optional Rack Buffered Output Transducer Interface Module (TIM), 1900/27 can also be used in conjunction with our Trendmasters 2000 system. It allows the user to apply machinery protection capabilities to all (or selected) seismic vibration points of the Trendmaster 2000 system.
FUNCTIONS OF VIBRATIONS MONITOR:
- Machinery Protection: Vibration monitors continuously observe vibration levels to safeguard machinery from potential damage. Excessive vibrations can lead to mechanical failure, and these monitors act as the first line of defense by triggering alarms or initiating shutdown procedures when vibration thresholds are exceeded. This proactive protection prevents costly downtime and catastrophic equipment failures.
- Condition Monitoring: One of the critical functions of a vibration monitor is to track the condition of machinery over time. By analyzing vibration trends, operators can detect signs of wear and tear, misalignment, imbalances, or other issues that might affect performance. Early detection allows for timely maintenance, reducing unexpected breakdowns and optimizing machine longevity.
- Signal Conditioning: Raw signals from transducers, such as accelerometers, are converted into meaningful metrics like peak velocity or displacement. This process ensures accurate and reliable data, which is crucial for understanding the health of the machinery. Proper signal conditioning enables operators to make informed decisions based on consistent and precise measurements.
- Alarm and Event Reporting: Vibration monitors are equipped to alert operators when vibration levels surpass predefined limits. These alerts can be visual or audible, providing immediate feedback about potential problems. Additionally, relay outputs allow integration with external alarm systems, ensuring that critical warnings reach the right personnel or trigger necessary safety measures.
- Integration with Control Systems: To enhance operational efficiency, vibration monitors provide 4-20 mA outputs that can be integrated with plant control systems or Distributed Control Systems (DCS). This seamless integration enables centralized monitoring of vibration data alongside other operational parameters, improving overall system visibility and control.
