The base plate of the PM857 controller has two RJ45 Ethernet ports (CN1, CN2) for connecting to the control network, as well as two RJ45 serial ports (COM3, COM4). One of the serial ports (COM3) is an RS-232C port with modem control signals, while the other port (COM4) is isolated and used for connecting the configuration tool. The controller supports CPU redundancy to enhance availability (CPU, CEX-Bus, communication interface, and S800 I/O).
By adding the SM812 module and the SIL certification software, high-integrity functions can be achieved. This enables non-critical control schemes to be upgraded to SIL-certified schemes by adding the SM81x module as a plugin and selecting the appropriate software upgrade. The AC 800M High-Integrity also provides a control environment certified by IEC 61508 and TUV, for combining safety and critical business process control within a single controller unit without sacrificing safety integrity.
PM857 can handle up to 128 I/O signals at most. It has been certified by SIL3. Configuration is required according to the safety manual.
