For three-module redundancy (TMR) applications, the 3500 system requires RIM in the form of TMR. In addition to all standard RIM functions, TMR RIM also has a “monitor channel comparison” function. The 3500 TMR configuration performs monitoring voting according to the settings specified in the monitoring options. In this way, TMR RIM will continuously compare the output of three mutually redundant monitors. If TMR RIM detects that the information of one monitor is not equal to the information of another monitor (within a set percentage), it will mark the monitor as an error and generate an event in the system event list.
