Equipped with trip and alarm functions designed for system protection, GE Multilin’s 169PLUS-10C-240 is a Motor Management Relay designed for medium to large motor systems. The unit’s vast array of possible connections makes it a highly configurable and versatile unit, maximizing its efficiency according to the individual motor system’s needs. The 169 PLUS is capable of learning system parameters and adjusting responses such as cooling times in order to best serve the motor.

The 169PLUS-10C-240 has a variety of practical applications for the motor system. The relay can protect motor equipment from operator abuse through the jumper hardware required to make adjustments to the system. The unit can also indicate loss of airflow and loss of suction within the system. The system defends against mechanical jams and protects the motor from excessive heat build-up.

Multilin’s 169 can use its trip relay contacts to activate a trip after the following system parameters reach a user-set threshold for a user-specified duration: temperature, overfrequency, underfrequency, overcurrent.

The “PLUS” version of the series has a number of benefits for users. The enhanced motor has the ability to learn motor system parameters and adapt accordingly. It is also able to calculate negative and positive sequence currents, working in conjunction with the RTDs to provide a total thermal model for the motor system. It also includes additional relay contacts offering increased configurability for the motor system.
