GE 8851-LC-MT is a SafetyNet safety network controller of GE PAC8000 series, certified to IEC61508 SIL2 safety integrity level. As the core unit of PAC8000 safety system, it integrates safety logic calculation, redundant network communication and I/O expansion interface. It supports rack configuration and can connect up to 64 I/O modules. Equipped with dual RJ45 Ethernet ports and LC multi-mode fiber port for SafetyNet redundant fiber network to exchange high-speed safety data between safety controllers. It features hardware self-diagnosis, watchdog and channel fault detection, supports hot-swappable modules and redundant controller configuration for safety interlock and emergency shutdown (ESD). This model is discontinued by original manufacturer and supplied as spare part for SIS safety instrumented system maintenance in chemical and oil & gas industries.

Product Application
It is deployed in SIS safety instrumented systems for oil refining, natural gas, chemical, pharmaceutical and other process industries. As safety controller, it executes safety logic, collects digital and analog field signals and triggers emergency shutdown and valve interlock when hazardous conditions occur. Redundant SafetyNet network is built via LC fiber for safety data exchange between multiple safety controllers. It works together with PAC8000 I/O modules for spare replacement and retrofit of legacy SIS systems.
