GE HYDRAN 201R Online Monitoring Device for Dissolved Fault Gases in Transformer Oil
Product Full Name: Online Monitoring Device for Dissolved Fault Gases in Transformer Oil (First Generation DGA Online Monitoring System)
Important Note: Hydran 201R (Model i) is the name of the entire system. The complete set consists of two parts:
H201Ti (On-site Oil Immersed Gas Sensor Probe) + H201Ci-1 (Single Channel Controller Host)
Original Brand: Original GE Energy (now GE Vernova, predecessor Syprotec)
General Overview
Model: HYDRAN 201R Model i
Purpose: Online oil-based dissolved gas monitoring (DGA) for power oil-immersed transformers and reactors, providing real-time warnings for internal overheating, partial discharge, and arc faults; continuous detection of composite fault gases (H₂, CO, C₂H₂, C₂H₄)
Life Cycle: Factory-wide complete discontinuation of production (EOL), the new replacement model is Hydran 201i / Hydran M2-X; Market Supply: New inventory complete units, refurbished spare parts that have undergone complete testing (current status of industrial control parts in 2026)

Measurement Principle
Utilizes fuel cell permeable membrane sensing technology to detect the equivalent concentration of composite hydrogen gas:
H₂ (hydrogen): 100% response
CO (carbon monoxide): 15% sensitivity
C₂H₂ (acetylene): 8% sensitivity
C₂H₄ (ethylene): 1.5% sensitivity
Core Technical Parameters
Measurement Range: 0 – 2000 ppm (equivalent H₂)
Accuracy: ±10% reading ±25 ppm
Response Time: 90% step change ≤ 10 minutes
Analog Output (Controller H201Ci-1)
Standard Configuration: 4-20mA / 0-1V / 0-10V jumpable configuration
Optional Isolated Analog Output, with insulation withstand voltage of 1500Vrms Communication interface
RS232: Local computer debugging (Hydran Host configuration software)
RS485: Networking, supports Hydran proprietary protocol / Modbus RTU, up to 3 probes can be connected in series
Alarm configuration
Two-level gas concentration alarms (Hi / Hi-Hi) + system failure alarm; 3 groups of SPDT relay dry contact outputs Power supply
85 – 264V AC, 50/60Hz; The overall power consumption is less than 15VA Environmental conditions
Operating temperature: -40℃ ~ +55℃; Supports outdoor rainproof box installation
Storage capacity
Long-term gas trend preservation, hourly/day change rate, 500 event records
System composition
H201Ti (Field Sensor): Directly installed on the transformer oil discharge valve, with a permeable membrane in contact with the insulating oil, extracting faulty gases
H201Ci-1 (Controller Unit): Data processing, display, alarm, analog quantity / communication output
Industry commonly known as the complete set: HYDRAN 201R
Typical application scenarios
Online condition monitoring of main transformers in power grids, auxiliary power transformers, offshore platform transformers, and large oil-filled transformers on ships.
