The Pacific Scientific Motion Control Division of Pacific Scientific was fully acquired by Kollmorgen in 2011. The original Pacific servo production line was gradually shut down, and the entire VM series was incorporated into the outdated legacy product line.

Official EOL Production Timeline
2011: Kollmorgen completed the acquisition, marking the VM series as NRND (not recommended for new project designs). New projects were forced to switch to Kollmorgen’s new generation AKM servo.
December 31, 2013 (LTB final order deadline)
The original factory stopped accepting new bulk orders for complete machines and no longer produced new motors. Only a small amount of original factory spare parts inventory was reserved.
2014: Officially completely discontinued EOB. The VM series production line was permanently closed. The original factory no longer produced the 33VM52-000-29 new motor.
2019: Kollmorgen’s global original factory spare parts inventory was emptied. Official original factory maintenance services were terminated. Only third-party refurbished repair services were supported.
2026 Current situation
No original factory new stock available; The market circulation supplies are all dismantled parts from early equipment, project stockpiled inventories, and third-party refurbished repaired motors. The regular warranty period is 12 months.

Core Reasons for
After the brand acquisition， product iterations occurred. The old VM brushed DC servo architecture was eliminated；
Complementary aluminum-nickel-cobalt magnetic steel， carbon brushes， and old LDA encoder components were completely out of supply；
Equipment manufacturers gradually switched to brushless AC servos， and the demand for old DC servos shrank.
