TRICONEX 3704E High-density TMR Digital Input Module
I. Product Positioning
This product is compatible with the Tricon 3000 (8110 chassis) SIS safety system. It features a 64-point high-density TMR triple-redundant digital input card, capable of collecting discrete contact signals such as on/off switches, limit switches, pressure switches, flame detection, ESD emergency stop, etc., meeting the IEC61508/IEC61511 SIL3 functional safety requirements.
Core Hardware Specifications
Channel Capacity
Each card has 64 DC digital inputs, with 8 points per group for a total of 8 groups; there is no channel isolation, and the same group has a common ground and shared terminal design, saving cabinet slots.
Input Voltage (software selectable, TriStation configuration)
Mode 1: 24VDC system, effective range 20~30VDC
Mode 2: 48VDC system, effective range 20~72VDC
Maximum tolerance 72VDC, hysteresis threshold 4V/7V, anti-contact jitter false triggering.
TMR Triple Redundancy Architecture
The card has three independent acquisition circuits A/B/C, and independent MCU processing; the three data upload to the CPU is a three-out-of-two voting, a single channel short circuit / damage does not affect the safety logic; the backplane bus is triple isolated.
Cable Wiring Compatibility
It needs to be paired with a dedicated ETP external terminal board, with cables directly connected to the on-site switch contacts; the module has a foolproof mechanical lock to prevent incorrect insertion into the chassis slot.
Physical and Environmental
Power Supply: Backplane of the chassis supplies 24VDC
Operating Temperature: -20℃ ~ +60℃
Humidity: 5%~95% RH without condensation
Explosion-proof: Class I Div 2, suitable for petrochemical hazardous areas
Supports online hot swapping, without triggering interlock shutdown when replacing cards

Built-in Diagnostic Function (Diagnostic Coverage > 99%)
Real-time detection of channel sticking Stuck ON/Stuck OFF faults, reporting to the system SOE within 0.5s;
Overvoltage, undervoltage, open circuit, and loop short circuit identification;
Alarm for inconsistency of three TMR channels data;
Panel PASS normal light, FAULT fault light, combined with system fault records to locate the point.
Key Advantages and Disadvantages Advantages
Single card with 64 points, significantly reduces rack occupation and saves cabinet costs at the same I/O scale;
Triple TMR configuration, SIL3 highest safety level, single-channel failure fault tolerance;
Dual voltage software switching of 24V/48V, compatible with different on-site standards of oil and gas, and power plants;
Complete channel self-diagnosis, early warning of switch contact aging and line breakage.
Limitations
There is no electrical isolation between channels. Short circuit of the same group line will affect the entire group;
Compared with 3501 (16-point isolated DI), the anti-interference ability is weaker. In strong electromagnetic interference scenarios, 3501 isolated card should be preferred.![]()
Differentiation of DI cards in the same series (selecting the right card to avoid mistakes)
Table
Model Points Channel Isolation Voltage Positioning
3504E 64 points No inter-channel isolation 24/48VDC High density, slot-saving, conventional switch acquisition
3501E 16 points Point-to-point isolation 24VDC High interference, critical interlock, flame / emergency stop signal
3564 64 points No isolation Only 24VDC Single-channel non-TMR economical type, only SIL2 scenario
Typical Application Scenarios
Petroleum ESD emergency stop: valve limit switch, combustible gas switch, flame detector;
FGS fire and gas system: smoke detector, temperature detector, sprinkler pressure switch;
Power plant BMS boiler protection: furnace pressure switch, damper position feedback;
Pipeline compressor unit ITCC: shaft vibration switch, oil pressure interlock, local emergency stop button.
