TRICONEX 8120E (Triconex, Schneider Electric) is an enhanced performance main chassis for Tricon SIS v9.6 and above safety instrumented systems. Adopting TMR Triple Modular Redundancy architecture, it acts as the core hardware carrier of the safety control system. Equipped with triplicated backplane, it accommodates main processors, redundant power supplies, communication modules and I/O modules. It supports hot-swappable modules; single module failure will not interrupt system operation. It meets SIL3 safety level and is designed to host safety controller hardware for high-reliability interlock protection.

Application
The 8120E main chassis serves as the core base of SIS Safety Instrumented System. It is widely deployed in high-risk process industries including oil & gas, refinery, chemical, thermal power and coal chemical. It is used for ESD emergency shutdown system, BMS burner management system, PPS pressure protection system and other safety interlock applications. When process variables exceed limits, it triggers protection logic to shut down equipment and prevent severe hazards such as explosion and leakage. It can connect with expansion chassis to extend remote I/O points.
