Core Function Positioning
As a fiber communication gateway between the main control rack and the remote I/O expansion rack, it converts the system’s electrical I/O bus signals into optical signals for transmission, enabling data interaction between the main controller in the control room and the remote I/O stations at the site over long distances, addressing issues such as limited copper cable transmission distance, ground loop interference, and strong electromagnetic interference.
Pairwise Use: Main Control Side IMFF4703x ↔ Remote Rack Side IMFF4703x
Supports redundant fiber links for the bus, eliminating single-point communication failures
Key Hardware Parameters Communication interface
Fiber interface: Dual redundant optical ports, standard SC optical interface
Transmission medium: Multi-mode fiber up to 2km, single-mode fiber can extend up to several kilometers
Real-time deterministic industrial bus, meeting the SIS millisecond-level interlock data transmission requirements
Architecture features
Native TMR triple module redundancy design, three-out-of-two hardware voting, single-channel failure does not interrupt system operation Power supply specification
Rack backplane is powered by 24VDC. The voltage tolerance range is 18~32VDC. It also has reverse connection and surge protection. Environmental parameters
Operating temperature: -20℃ ~ +70℃
Storage temperature: -40℃ ~ +85℃
Humidity: 5%~95% RH (no condensation)

Core product advantages
Full electrical isolation: Fiber transmission completely isolates high and low voltage ground loops, avoiding damage to the main control card in the field due to surges and lightning strikes
Strong anti-electromagnetic interference: Suitable for high-frequency and high-power motor strong interference working conditions in power plants, chemical plants, and oil and gas industries
Long-distance I/O expansion: Large-scale installations can have remote I/O cabinets placed locally in the installation area, reducing the laying of a large number of cables and saving construction costs
Redundant safety design: Supports dual fiber links + dual interface module redundant networking to meet the fault-tolerant requirements of SIL3 safety systems
Seamless compatibility: Compatible with the entire series of Triconex AI/DI/AO/DO safety I/O modules, used in conjunction with remote expansion racks
Typical application scenarios
ESD emergency shutdown SIS system remote I/O expansion for petroleum, chemical, and coal chemical plants
Safety interlock protection systems for boilers and turbine units in thermal power plants and gas-fired power plants
Remote signal acquisition for pipeline stations, storage tank areas, compressor stations, and safety instrument control systems
Centralized collection of I/O signals from local explosion-proof cabinets in large-scale installations, with fiber optic transmission back to the main control room

Key usage points
Must be configured in pairs: Deploy one IMFF4703x on the local rack and one on the remote expansion rack
Commonly used accessories: Multimode SC optical fiber jumper, Triconex remote I/O rack, various safety I/O terminal bases
Dual modules + dual fiber can achieve 1:1 redundant communication, which is the standard configuration for critical interlock circuits
