Product Description

Model: Valmet DAMATIC XD, the second-generation modular Distributed Control System (DCS) of Valmet, now discontinued. It is an upgraded platform based on the earlier Damatic Classic. The complete system consists of controller units, I/O modules, operator stations and communication network. Originally developed for pulp & paper industry, later extended to CHP power plants, hydropower and marine automation. It supports continuous process control, logic interlock, safe shutdown, event logging and historical data acquisition. Adopting redundant network architecture for high reliability, it provides fast loop control and turbine governor function. It is Valmet’s early core DCS platform, widely used for spare parts replacement and maintenance retrofitting of legacy installations.

Application

Initially designed for pulp and paper production lines, later widely deployed in thermal power plants, combined cycle power stations, small hydropower stations and marine engine room monitoring systems. Applied for paper making, cooking, bleaching and dryer section process control; boiler & turbine monitoring and interlock protection for power plants; marine machinery alarm & monitoring. It realizes plant-wide centralized monitoring and fail-safe shutdown to guarantee stable continuous process operation. Currently used mainly for DCS spare part replacement, equipment maintenance and partial retrofitting of old factories.
