Product Description

ABB AO2040 (sometimes written A02040) is a wall-mounted multi-component continuous gas analyzer main unit from ABB Advance Optima AO2000 series, a modular process gas analysis system. It can accommodate up to 4 analyzer modules and simultaneously measure up to 6 gas components. Optional detectors include NDIR, TCD, FID, UV and electrochemical sensors. It features a large graphic LCD panel, menu-guided operation and integrated automatic calibration with ambient air, reducing frequent reliance on calibration gas cylinders. Comprehensive hardware self-monitoring predicts maintenance needs. Communication options include Ethernet TCP/IP, OPC, Profibus and Modbus, plus expandable analog and digital I/O. IP20 standard, IP54 purged and Ex-p pressurized hazardous-area variants available for Zone1/2. AO2040 is wall mount while AO2020 is 19” rack version. This model is active production and widely used as gas analysis equipment and spare part in chemical and power plants.

Product Application

It is deployed in petrochemical, chemical, power, metallurgy, waste incineration and air separation plants for continuous online measurement of CO, CO₂, CH₄, O₂, total hydrocarbons in flue gas and process gas streams. Real-time gas composition supports combustion optimization, process control and environmental emission monitoring. AO2040-Fidas24 Ex pressurized version can be installed directly in Zone1 hazardous locations for combustible hydrocarbon measurement. Modular construction allows individual analyzer module replacement, widely used for new projects and maintenance retrofit of legacy online gas analysis systems.
