SM811 (Part No.: 3BSE018173R1, full designation SM811K01) is a SIL3 safety co-processor CPU module for ABB AC800M / 800xA Safety Instrumented System. It works together with PM865 main CPU to form a 1oo2 diverse safety architecture. Safety logic runs independently and is physically separated from standard process control. It comes with TP868 baseplate and TK852V10 synchronization cable, connected to CEX safety bus via BC810 for S800 safety I/O communication. TÜV certified IEC 61508 SIL3, with comprehensive self-diagnostics and safety voting. This model is not RoHS 2 compliant. SM812K01 is the recommended replacement for new installations, and SM811 is supplied only for spare repair of legacy systems.

Application

Deployed in SIS safety instrumented systems for petrochemical, refinery, offshore oil & gas, power plant and coal chemical industries. It executes ESD emergency shutdown, BMS burner management, overpressure protection and unit safety interlocks. Safety functions are isolated from normal DCS control. It initiates safe shutdown on process excursion, fire or gas detection. Used for overhaul and spare replacement of legacy 800xA safety systems. Configuration must be performed by qualified engineers following the ABB safety manual.
