LBI Local Bus Interface Board (Local Bus Interface)
This is a dedicated communication motherboard for ABB synchronous motor / steam turbine generator excitation control systems (UNITROL series excitation cabinets), belonging to the core bus communication card within the excitation system; it is responsible for the high-speed data exchange and bus scheduling among the excitation controller CPU, I/O acquisition board, power unit, and human-machine panel within the excitation system; it is the key board card for the interconnection of the entire excitation system.

Core Functional Roles
Internal Local Bus Master Station Management
Build an exclusive parallel bus network within the excitation cabinet, and mount all sub-board cards such as temperature collection, current and voltage sampling, thyristor triggering, fault detection, and power supply monitoring; coordinate the issuance of instructions, the upload of operation data, and the summary of fault signals.
Signal Isolation and Anti-interference Conversion
The large-power excitation cabinet has extremely strong electromagnetic interference. This board card performs electrical isolation to avoid communication failure and sampling distortion caused by strong magnetic fields and harmonic interference.
System Self-check and Fault Reporting
Real-time inspection of the status of all attached modules. Once a sub-board breaks wire or there is a hardware anomaly, it immediately reports to the main control CPU and triggers the excitation system alarm and redundant switching protection.
Redundant System Adaptation
Perfectly compatible with UNITROL 5000/UNITROL F series dual-redundant excitation control systems. One main and one backup seamless switching to ensure the continuous operation of the power plant’s generating units.
