Emerson 5X00419G01 Ovation Ethernet Link Controller
I. Product Brief Description
This module belongs to the Emerson Ovation power plant-specific DCS distributed control system (originally the Westinghouse power plant control system). Its full name is: Ethernet Link Controller (Ethernet Link Controller), a 16-channel industrial embedded network communication module.
Core Function: It builds an Ethernet communication bridge among the Ovation controller, the local I/O rack, the upper-level operator station, and the third-party PLC/industrial instruments. It has the dual functions of an industrial switch and a protocol gateway; it supports link redundancy hot backup and is specifically designed for thermal automation in thermal power plants and hydropower stations. It has now been discontinued by the original manufacturer and is mostly used for replacing DCS maintenance spare parts in old power plants.

Core Product Performance
Power Station-level Redundant Fault-Tolerant Communication Architecture
Two modules can operate redundantly as one primary and one backup. In case of network cable failure or single module hardware damage, the communication link can be switched within milliseconds, ensuring the continuity of control data without interruption, meeting the safety requirements for continuous operation of the generator set; it is compatible with the uninterrupted operation specifications of the power plant DCS.
Multi-protocol Interoperable Gateway Function
It can carry the real-time control data of the Ovation system internally, and also connect external devices such as flue gas denitrification PLC, vibration monitoring device, and intelligent electricity meter through Modbus TCP, breaking through the data barriers of heterogeneous devices.
Comprehensive Hardware Self-Diagnosis Operation System
The indicator lights on the panel show the link status of each path separately; it continuously checks for port failures, bus abnormalities, and internal chip conditions, uploads fault codes to the upper-level monitoring screen, and quickly locates the network fault point.
Enhanced Design for Harsh Power Plant Operating Conditions
The circuit board is coated with three protection coatings, capable of withstanding power plant dust, humidity, large-power motor electromagnetic interference, and slight vibration, operating continuously and stably for 7×24 hours throughout the year.
Hot Swap Online Maintenance
The system can plug in and replace faulty modules without downtime, significantly reducing the maintenance downtime of the generator set.
Network Storm Suppression
Built-in industrial Ethernet control mechanism, preventing broadcast storms from causing DCS network lag and control failure.

Application Domains
Ovation DCS master control network networking for boilers and turbine sides in thermal power plants;
Communication hub for the entire plant monitoring system in hydropower plants, gas turbine power stations;
Network expansion for self-control systems of waste heat recovery units in waste-to-energy plants and biomass power plants;
Replacement of spare parts for old Ovation systems in steel mills’ self-owned power plants and chemical industrial park self-owned power plants;
Distributed process control systems for large pump stations in water treatment plants and municipal heating networks.
