Product Description
Woodward 1680-2004 is a SIL3 rated passive magnetic pickup unit (MPU), explosion-proof magnetoelectric speed sensor manufactured by Woodward. It requires no external power supply and generates AC frequency signal as gear teeth pass through magnetic field, used to measure shaft speed of steam turbines, gas turbines and reciprocating engines. This version features 0.750-20 thread, 1.867 inch sensing length and 10 feet integral cable. With explosion-proof housing and SIL3 safety integrity level, it can be installed directly in hazardous locations. Single coil construction with good vibration resistance and high temperature endurance. It outputs sine wave frequency signal to Woodward governors and overspeed protection systems for speed monitoring and overspeed trip protection, serving as critical sensing spare for prime mover safety systems.

Product Application
It is mounted close to gear teeth of gas turbines, steam turbines, diesel or gas engines. It converts rotational speed into frequency signal and transmits to electronic governor and overspeed protection module. It supports closed-loop speed regulation, speed indication and overspeed trip for emergency shutdown in case of overspeed. Widely used in power plants, oil & gas fields, compressor stations and marine power plants. It meets SIL3 safety loop requirement and acts as essential sensor for prime mover protection.
